Erik R. Anderson is a Principal in the Firm's Commercial Litigation, Regulatory & Administrative Agency Law, and Professional Licensure Practice Groups. He represents clients in matters relating to commercial litigation, professional licensure, and attorney ethics proceedings and discipline defense. His clients are often confronted by challenges and opportunities at the intersection of government, law, and public policy. Mr. Anderson routinely represents regulated corporations, state-licensed professionals, high-ranking public officials, law firms, attorneys, and judges.
Mr. Anderson represents clients before Pennsylvania's Departments, Agencies, Boards, and Commissions, including the Office of Attorney General, the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Judicial Conduct Board, the State Ethics Commission, state boards regarding license applications and disciplinary actions, and the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board (PLRB).
Mr. Anderson works closely with employers in a range of industries and regularly advises clients on a variety of labor and employment issues, including successful hiring, employee performance management and termination strategies; development and implementation of anti-harassment and other personnel policies; evaluating and resolving employee complaints and workplace conflicts; and achieving compliance with state and federal employment laws. He also represents management interests in responding to union organizing campaigns and defending employment-related labor litigation.
In his legal profession and ethics practice, Mr. Anderson represents lawyers and law firms in responding to bar inquiries and defending against bar prosecutions brought by the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He also advises on a wide range of ethics issues including conflicts of interest, attorney misconduct, fees, and disqualification motions.
Mr. Anderson also counsels clients in connection with regulatory enforcement proceedings and white collar criminal matters and defends individuals and corporations in local, state, and federal grand jury investigations and prosecutions.
Prior to joining private practice, Mr. Anderson spent nearly ten years working in the upper reaches of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General (OAG) and Pennsylvania General Assembly. As Agency Counsel for the OAG, Mr. Anderson served as chief in-house counsel and represented the OAG in labor and employment litigation matters. He also conducted internal investigations in tandem with the Office of Professional Responsibility into allegations of misconduct by law enforcement agents and prosecutors.
Mr. Anderson began his legal career working for the late United States Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy’s Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), where he clerked for the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. He was involved in preparing investigative reports concerning the federal Reading First program of No Child Left Behind, as well as marketing misconduct between the student lending industry and public universities.
