Marisa Barriere is a Principal in the Firm's Workers’ Compensation Department. She focuses her practice on the defense of employers, insurance companies, self-insureds, and third-party administrators in workers' compensation matters. She manages and maintains a caseload from complaint to decision that includes: filing of pleadings; discovery proceedings; depositions; settlement conferences and mediations; and arguments. Prior to joining Post & Schell, P.C., Ms. Barriere practiced workers’ compensation law with a regional defense firm and reviewed contracts for one of the largest multinational pharmaceutical companies.
Ms. Barriere graduated from Saint Joseph's University with a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Health Services and received her J.D. from Drexel University's Earle Mack School of Law with a concentration in Health Care Law. At Drexel, she served as the Co-President of the Health Law Society, was elected member of the Student Bar Association, and was a Marshall-Brennan Fellow.
Her charitable activities include the Jesuit Volunteer Corps with whom she spent a year within Milwaukee, WI working at a community clinic which served uninsured patients. She has shared her time working as a medical assistant and coordinator of the clinic's Patient Assistance Program, which provides free medication for patients who qualify financially. She has also taught constitutional law to Philadelphia public high school students.
