Cynthia Haines Presents on HIPAA Related Data Breaches to Membership of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce & Industry on March 7
On Monday, March 7, 2016, Health Care Principal Cynthia A. Haines presented, "We Might Have a HIPAA Breach - What Now?," to members of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Ms. Haines' presentation addressed the issues that arise during and after a data breach related to patient information and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Her review included immediate mitigation, and the legal obligation to notify patients/clients that their personal information has been compromised and HHS, if appropriate. Ms. Haines also reviewed the importance of documentation due to possible regulatory investigations post-breach and discussed policies and procedures that can be developed and incorporated into a crisis response plan.
