Employment Principal Andrea Kirshenbaum Presented "Wage and Hour: What Employers Need to Know" at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce on April 30

Employment & Employee Relations Principal Andrea M. Kirshenbaum presented, "Wage and Hour: What Employers Need to Know," on Wednesday, April 30, at 8:00 am ET at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (Map It) as part of Emerson Group's 2014 Seminar Series.

Ms. Kirshenbaum's presentation reviewed the current state of wage and hour laws at the state and federal level, and examind from an employer’s perspective the legal challenges involved in:

  • Overtime and minimum wage
  • Off-the-clock work (meal break, preliminary/postliminary work, on-call time)
  • Employee exempt/non-exempt classification
  • Independent contractor/employee classification

Ms. Kirshenbaum also examined how employers can proactively address these legal challenges to avoid potential collective and class actions, compliance issues and government enforcement.
